I've worked out how to make the text appear and it's working in preview (hurrah), so thanks.  Now I want to get hold of all the answers people input on all their different phones.. how do I do that?

This is great, but is there a way to save the input text to the user's device so they can access it? Sort of how the "Memo" function on android works?

    Hi Joe,

You can save data to the app using the af.storedData object. There's an example usage here: https://appfurnace.zendesk.com/entries/22574337-Storing-user-input-via-text-input-widget-on-phone

    Hope that helps

    Hi,

Is there a way to have a date input? At the moment I currently have 3 text input widgets, one for day, month, and year. The keypad that comes up is a numerical keypad using the code I found here https://appfurnace.zendesk.com/entries/23886377-Input-Type-Number- this works but is not ideal for the app's purpose...

    Thanks

    Hi wiltshirevehicle,

At the moment, the 3 text widget approach is probably the best bet. We don't have plans to implement a specific date widget at the moment, but we'll consider the suggestion when we're planning new widgets.

For anyone else who's interested, we've recently explained the approach to this kind of interface here: https://appfurnace.zendesk.com/entries/41443393

    Thanks

    Hi,

I have a text widget that easily fits on the screen but when I preview it, a 'border' line appears half way across the widget and text will only show up to that point (as you add more text it scrolls into the first half of the widget) . Is there a way of making text fill the whole widget (i've checked its not the padding). Also is there any way of wrapping text in a widget? Thanks. Adam.

Further to my last comment, I've tested it on my Android phone on Appfurnace player and its ok but it still happens on the online preview. Cheers.

    Hi AdTee,

What browser & version are you using? Would you be able to upload a screenshot of the issue for us to get a better idea?

Also, could you expand on "wrapping text in a widget" please?

    Thanks

    Hi Kieron,

Screen shot attached. I'm using Chrome, Version 34.0.1847.116 m

The problem doesn't occur on either of my Android devices, just in the browser preview.

By 'wrapping it', I was thinking of when a line of text reaches the end of the displayable space in the widget, it will drop down onto the next line (e.g. if you had a widget that was wide enough to take several lines of text. Just a thought really more than anything that I desperately need to do!

    Thanks

    Hi AdTee,

I see the issue now - this looks like a browser bug, especially as it's not occurring on the devices. We'll log it to be fixed in a future update. Thanks for flagging it.

As for the multi-line input, there's not currently a way to do this. If you wanted a longer block of text to appear on screen though, you could use a standard text input, and then "on change" update a rich text widget with the content? This would wrap the text as described and allow users to check back longer inputs

    Hope that helps
